AT THE OASIS

AT THE OASIS Image This band hails from Jacksonville, Florida and is considered the "Closest thing" to the real Lynard Skynard.

They have performed with original Lynard Skynard members and have opened for the current Lynard Skynard band.

Along with Down South Jukin, Gene Odom will be attending the bike week show. Gene is the former bodyguard for Ronnie Van Zandt and was on the plane that crashed and killed the former lead singer for Skynard.

Gene will be on hand to sign his books and other memorabilia.

"Mr. Gene Odom quoted that we sounded so close to Skynyrd, it was scary... and also we are his favorite tribute to his childhood friend, Mr Ronnie VanZant. Mr. Gene Odom was very close friends to Ronnie in grade school, and they grew up together to become best friends He later joined the band as Ronnie's bodyguard and went on their tours; he was a passenger on the plane 10/20/1977 where Mr.Odom was badly burned and lost an eye. Since then he has been writing books about his experiences with the band. He'll be selling his books (remembering the freebirds of southern rock) with autographs and his t-shirts at our show. Trust me, you and your patrons are in for a treat."

Custom Bike Show

Custom Bike Show Image

Bike show is Sat. MAY 2nd at Hooper’s Crab House Registration is until 2:00 p.m.

Judging will begin at 2:15pm.                                                                                     Price to register is $10.00. All proceeds to benefit local charities decided on by the hosting parties.

Categories are as Follows: (Judges and Personnel working the registration table have final say on what class the motorcycle fits in.

Custom

Any motorcycle that has been customized beyond using more than a few

"Bolt-on" parts. All or part of the motorcycle has been custom designed and

built, with an emphasis on one-off fabrication rather than mass-produced items.

Example modifications include, but are not limited to, the following:

        * Non-stock engine. Such as a 96 inch motor in a machine that was 80 inches

stock. Either an entirely new motor or a "benched" motor that has been ported

and polished to increase performance.

        * Custom fabricated fenders or handle bars.

        * Non-stock transmission. Such as a 6-speed open primary in a machine that was

originally a 5-speed enclosed primary. Or a jockey-shift on a machine that was

originally foot-shift.

        * Custom or a that has been modified from stock to change the

geometry of the . Such as a with a non-stock rake and stretch.

        * Custom wiring or lighting. Such as neon or LED light accessories that

require load balancers, rewiring, or a custom wiring harness.

        * Custom fabricated exhaust.

        * Custom seat pan or seat rebuild.

        * Custom levers, pegs, mounting brackets, saddle bags, and such. For example,

if you added saddle bag brackets and saddle bags to a machine that did not

originally have them, and you had to modify the off-the-shelf components to work

with your machine.

The more modifications that your bikes has, the more likely that it is a

Custom. Just because your bike has some parts that are "bolt-on" does not mean

that it is not a Custom. You just need a lot of "bolt-ons" to equal a single

custom-built modification.

the Best of Show trophy, including bikes that win another category.
